Knowing When to Enroll In Medicare
If you’re approaching your 65th Birthday, now is the time to start thinking about Medicare and what you need to be able to do to enroll.
If you’ve made the important decision to go onto Medicare…what steps should you take next? Three months prior to your 65th birthday you will want to enroll in Medicare Parts A and B and there are three ways to enroll:
The quickest way to enroll is on the Social Security Website where you will click on Medicare Enrollment
If you feel more comfortable speaking with a person (and waiting on hold for a while) you can call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY users 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday, from 7AM to 7PM.
The third way to enroll and if you feel like wasting a day, you can go down to your local Social Security office.
Next you will want to begin your research to determine if a Medicare Advantage/Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare Supplement and a Part D plan are right for you. This is when you may want to contact our office for expert guidance in making this decision.
Once your Medicare ID card arrives in the mail, then we can sit down and complete your enrollment in whichever plan you have chosen.
